I did belong to the Waltham congregation that shared the same building with Newton. I was wondering if anyone here ever at that hall...

I believe in what goes around comes around. People who are not afraid of this world and freely give flow with everything. Giving in it's time. I feel you became a recipient of that gift. I have had it loads of times and I try to remember to return it by giving to someone like that when I can. You know 'Pass it on"! Or, it has been called A Random Act of Kindness. The more we do it, the more it will spread! It does not even have to be money,
- like letting someone go through the door before you
- smiling to a handicapped person or elderly, (I mean a REAL smile with a genuine 'how are you'?)
- Let someone go on ahead in the car before you pull out
- Compliment someone's outfit or car, etc.
- SMILE
- Can I help? when someone is struggling with packages or something heavy.
- Post on someone's thread that seems depressed and try and cheer the person up.
You get it now... Have a GREAT Day!!!

by misspeaches ini really enjoy reading the stories/experiences you guys all post on here from your jdub days..... the funny, ridiculous, ironic ones make me laugh but reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. the hurtful, sad, mean ones make me hurt as well but again - reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. the scandals that go on - well same again - they reinforce in my mind that i've done the right thing by leaving that organisation.. i do appreciate the time you all take in writing down your stories and will never tire of reading them.
so if you have a story you haven't relayed here before because it is didn't seem relevant to a thread i would love to read it!.

I should have added that while I was in Charlotte at that new cong. my then JW husband before being DFd stopped working. He brought in NO money and was out all the time (I found out years later he was visiting gay bars and experimenting with that lifestyle) and of course smoking cigarettes. Our car had been repoed (they showed up one day at my work to get it). I was walking 2 1/2 miles to work one way, dropping off my young son to day care so I could work all day. I was exhausted, my thyroid started to enlarge and I looked and felt wasted. I ended up having a 'burn out' that took me two years to recover from.
I went to the elders and told them that I needed help. I said all is falling apart and I can't do it all alone, I don't know what to do. The brother had a meeting with the other brothers and this is what they told me!!!
The MAN or HEAD OF THE HOUSEHOLD is the only one who can ask us for HELP!!! I finally got a hold of my nowX and told him to go to the elders and expain we need help, or to his family. He said NO. He was DFd soon after that when the elders approached him about cigarette smoking and he talked to them while lighting up one.
I had to notify my family back in Mass. and they sent me plane tickets to go home leaving all I owned back there with no way to get it home.
I found out later that my nowX's brother who had visited us just before that time had not acted JW-like. (I found out from her that he had stayed with a Pioneering sister at her place!!! A single Pioneering sister!) She was going out in service with him every day and they were sitting together while he visited for 2 weeks. We all thought he was interested in her. After the two weeks, he left without a word. She was devastated, and kept coming over to ask me what had happened. He never admitted to that, and told me I was mistaken about him having spent that much time with him!!! Sounds like his brother (my X) and him had a lot in common! He is now an elder in a cong. in Mass somewhere!
I am starting to feel some of the old feelings of disgust when I write these old stories. I had no idea that I still felt anything about those times. Yuck. I am not sure whether to still post here or get some rest from it. I can't believe I was envolved in all that JUNK and sick stuff!!!! And stayed!!!!!!!!!!! I was out not long after that happened above though cause it kept getting worse.

Here's one I have not told yet.
We had moved to Charlotte and my husband went astray and I moved back home. My husband was DFd and we were now separated (lots of reasons, but his DFd came from not wanting to give up cigarettes) I was at a Thursday night meeting (just got there) and in the coat closet. I was alone putting my car keys in my coat pocket when a brother that was not really our close friend came up to me. I thought it was to welcome me back to the cong. He wispered at me and as he started to speak, his voice got angry "why aren't you with your husband, a woman's place is with her husband"!!! Since it had not been announced yet I could not say anything. It took a month or so before they announced it at that hall. It was awkward for me and my children, people starred at us and 'speculated' what was going on for a whole month. I felt like a leper!

Confession, I think that 'confessions' come on stronger in congregations where the elders are all former Catholics. Their former teachings can creep in. If you point this out though, beware of the wrath. I found that in Mass. where I was in the congregation, confession and penance was like their second language. In the former Baptist environment of the cong. in Charlotte, NC for example that was not even brought up!
Just my observation

What are you like when you don't get enough sleep?
by Crumpet inhow much sleep do you need generally?
if you don't get enough sleep - what are you like the next day?
does how you behave reflect the reason you didn't get enough sleep blatantly to others?

My first experience with 'life altering' music was the Beatles. Then, Led Zeplin, and Pink Floyd's the Wall. Then and always the BeeGees and Eagles.

They wonder why they are losing people???
by LongHairGal ini have to laugh at how hard they try to bring people in by knocking on doors and rv's - but once the people are in they are pushing them out the back door with both hands!
we all remember how hard it was to stay there (even if you believed it all) - let alone the head-trips they put you through!!
listen to this.
